Weitzner's Nimbus nominated for Designpreis Deutschland 2010

Lori Weitzner’s award-winning Nimbus wall treatment has been nominated for the prestigious Designpreis Deutschland 2010 (Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010), the highest official design award given in Germany.

Awarded by the Federal Minister for Economics and Technology and organized by the German Design Council (Rat fur Formgebung), it is not possible to simply submit a product for consideration for Designpreis Deutschland. Rather, products must be nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and must already have won a national or international award; for this reason the competition is often know as the Prize of Prizes.

Made from sustainably harvested tree bark, Nimbus is a handmade, organic open web that draws its texture directly from the South American fig tree from which it is made, its fretwork aesthetic allowing light to pass through, accentuating the interplay between light and shadow. The recyclable and biodegradable product can be used as a wallcovering, decorative divider, or even as a piece of art.

Nimbus is available to design professionals from Weitzner Limited through showrooms nationwide. Please visit www.weitznerlimited.com for local availability.

Weitzner Limited's Nimbus Wins on the Runway

Lori Weitzner has once again been a part of a winning collaboration. Lori’s trademark sophistication and elegance met with that of interior designer Dorothy Willetts last month to create the winning dress at Club Cambria’s ASID Project Runway show at the El Paseo 2009 Fashion Week in Palm Springs.

Willetts used Weitzner’s hand-woven Nimbus to create the delicate cuffs and dramatic collar for her Erte-inspired Art Deco dress. The web-like accents were married to fabric from the Tony Duquette collection for Jim Thompson.

This sensational dress was not only a hit at the show, but further proved the versatility of Weitzner’s innovative product.

Versatile Enduit Collection plaster wallcoverings, which can be painted to fit any scheme, take on a traditional elegance in this interior. The designers choose Palmette, a large-scale damask, for the master bedroom and Acanthus, a cloverleaf inspired by royal crests, to complement the stonework in the powder room.
