In the early 1990s, Jack Lenor Larsen asked Lori to design and direct a textile collection, the first time an out-of-house designer had been invited to do so. Lori created Simply Grand, a collection of florals and geometrics with a hand drawn appearance. The successful collection was followed by Rhythm and Line, in which children of Jacques D’Amboise’s dance troupe painted their interpretations of music, which Lori then incorporated into fabric; a portion of the sales of the collection benefited the troupe.
Lori later designed a sequel to Simply Grand and a fourth collection, Paradigm, which featured contemporary motifs on universal archetypes that have consistently elicited emotional responses across cultures and time—a hallmark of Lori’s work throughout her career.
